The Spinning Mill in Skowhegan was built in 1922 as the Solon Manufacturing Building.
Initially designed for spinning textiles it was a pioneer in its time, being one of the first electrified mills in the region, thanks to its proximity to hydropower. The mill’s architecture boasts over 200 double-pane windows, each six feet wide by ten feet tall, flooding the space with natural light.
Fast forward to today, and Pike Developers are breathing new life into this historic gem. The ground floor is set to house a 20-unit hotel, complete with a grand entryway, a lobby, and a tasting room for Bigelow Brewing Company.
The upper floors are being transformed into 41 residential units, ranging from chic loft-style apartments to expansive three-bedroom suites. Residents and visitors alike will be able to enjoy a sauna, state-of-the-art gym, and office spaces as well as a 5,000-square-foot rooftop deck offering breathtaking views of the dam, the Kennebec River, and the heart of Skowhegan.
