A Modern Hotel for Downtown Bangor
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Bangor, The Phenix at 20 Broad St. has been meticulously revitalized after a year-long renovation, blending its rich past with contemporary comforts.
Constructed in 1893, this building has witnessed the ebb and flow of Bangor’s vibrant history. From its early days as a grocery store, where boats would directly offload goods into its back, to its transformation into The Charles Inn in the 1980s.
Pike collaborated with a forward-thinking investment group to transform this iconic structure into a high-end boutique hotel that meets the growing demands of Downtown Bangor. Today, The Phenix features 37 uniquely designed rooms, each adorned with distinct decor and artwork. The lobby, a blend of modern dark oak paneling, exquisite Italian tiles, and custom chandeliers, welcomes guests into a world where history meets luxury.
Beyond aesthetics, the renovation was about preserving the essence of the building. From restoring historic windows to their former glory to introducing a stunning staircase that pays homage to its past. A special nod to history is the preserved old vault on the second floor, adding a touch of intrigue to the space.
